Spring Training Report - Micah Owings

Sunday's Posse top player of camp was prospect Micah Owings. Owings was first acquired by the Posse through the draft. Micah was a top high school prospect that decided to go to college and become a two way player. While in college he hit and pitched well, but his value decreased because major league teams nit picked on his negatives. Owings was drafted by Arizona in 2005 and since has been on fire, moving all the way to AAA in 2006. So far Owings has a 17-3 minor league record with a 3.23 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 0.39 HR9. All great numbers. To top that off he has also seen as an advanced bat for a pitcher, hitting over .300 in his minor league career.

Owings is expected to go back to AAA and get another full season under the belt. He is currently not on the 40 man roster, but put together a nice 2 inning relief appearance where he allowed 2 runners on base.
